Note: Packet pickup information will be provided closer to race day, so stay tuned!

Course Description

10 Nautical Mile runners will start inside the Philip H. Sheridan Reserve Center before following the McClory Bike Path as it heads south around the outside of Fort Sheridan and through the historic Fort Sheridan Water Tower and parade grounds. Runners will then re-enter the McClory bike path heading north.

You’ll run along the quiet, shaded path that millions of Sailors and Soldiers have run before you as you pass through Highland Park, Highwood, Lake Forest, and Lake Bluff before exiting the path in North Chicago.

There, you’ll make your way past the Great Lakes Naval Station, the Navy’s largest training installation and the home of the Navy’s only Boot Camp, before turning into Foss Park where you can celebrate your accomplishment at the post-race party.

Parking

There is NO PARKING within the Fort Sheridan Reserve Center. All participants and volunteers will need to park at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine & Science (RFUMS) Campus located at 3333 Greenbay Road, North Chicago, IL 60064.

Shuttles

Shuttle buses will begin running to Fort Sheridan at 5:00 AM with the last bus to Fort Sheridan leaving at 6:15 AM. Shuttle buses will run continuously from 5:00 AM through the end of the event.

Please give yourself extra time to board the bus to get to the proper starting line. It will take approximately 30 minutes to get to Fort Sheridan.

Plan to park at the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine & Science (RFUMS) Campus between 5:00 AM and 6:00 AM to be bussed to the start line.

Drop Off

Participants and spectators can be dropped off at the start line. Drop offs must be done before 7:00 AM as areas will be closed at the race start.

Enter Fort Sheridan Reserve off of Sheridan Road at First Street

Spectators

Spectators of the 10 NM run, please note that the shuttle buses departing to Fort Sheridan are for participants only. There will be limited free parking at the Fort Sheridan Metra Station, where you will need to walk to the start line. There are no post-race shuttles back to Fort Sheridan.

Gear Check

Participants will be able to check gear using a race-issued clear plastic bag ONLY, which will be distributed to runners at packet pick up.

Gear will be checked at Fort Sheridan and transported back to Foss Park for pick up at the post-race party.

Course Description

3 Nautical Mile runners will start and finish their run at Foss Park.

You’ll begin by exiting the park and running along the fence line of the Great Lakes Naval Station before heading south down the McClory Bike Path to the Great Lakes Train Station.

Finally, you’ll make a quick turn around and head back to Foss Park and into the post-race celebrations!

Parking

There is NO PARKING at Foss Park. However, there is FREE Parking near the park at the following locations:

North Chicago Metra Station – 1633 Lakeside Ave, North Chicago, IL 60064

West Rock parking lot – 1900 Foss Park Avenue, North Chicago, IL 60064

Street parking is also available on Lakeside Avenue, Sheridan Road, 17th Street and the surrounding areas.

1-Mile Fun Run

Course Description

The North Chicago 1-Mile Fun Run starts and finishes in Foss Park. You’ll head out of the park along the fence line of the Great Lakes Naval Station before turning around and heading back to the finish line and into the post-race celebrations!

Awards

Awards will be presented between 9:15 AM-9:45 AM for the following categories:

Top 3 Male and Female overall winners in the 3 Nautical Mile Event and 10 Nautical Mile event.

Top Male and Female from each branch of Military Armed Forces (Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, and Navy) for *10 NM and 3 NM

*The Fort2Base 10 Nautical Mile race is a Regional Championship RRCA Championship event – awards will be handed out during the award ceremony for RRCA Winners.

Age Groups awarded on race day (or mailed for a fee one week post event) to the top 3 Male and Female winners in these divisions: *9 and under, *10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54,55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+

Award winners will not be allowed to win an overall award and an age group award. You are able to win a military award and an overall or age group award and an RRCA award.
